A young boy comes from the village to work as a domestic in prosperous Delhi (India). He is personal servant to an eccentric old lady who lives with her unemployed son and his beautiful wife. The daughter-in-law is the main earning member and therefore holds the family together. The old lady confides in the boy her fears of being abandoned by the family. When the daughter-in-law , who is unhappily married , acquires an admirer the household begins to worry about its financial future.
The soundtrack features songs like Garaj Garaj Ghir Aaye Badar sung by Noor Jehan.
