Born into a rich family of agriculturists, Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Ji Insan hails from SriGurusarmodia, a small village in North Rajasthan. His father, Bapu Maghar Singh Ji Insan, and mother, Mata Nasib Kaur Ji, and several villagers reveal that Guruji's birth was prophesised by a village ascetic, Triveni Das, who talked of the coming of a divine light.

Saint Insan is married and has four children, three daughters and a son, but he had to renounce family life at the young age of 23 as he was anointed the third Spiritual Master of Dera Sacha Sauda by his Guruji, Saint Shah SatnamJi Maharaj.
